• "La Technologie du MiniDisc" deals with the basics of the MD's technology, I mean in order : psychoacoustic perceptual of the human ear, ATRAC encoder, ATRAC decoder, data structure on the disc, magnetic field modulation used in MD vs laser modulation with recordable CD, optical pickup, detection device, concept of clone and digital copy and SCMS system, "time remaining" managing on the disc, controlling devices (who commands who) called "asservissements", TOC and UTOC, the basic principles of ATRACx LSI (featuring scale factor edit, MDLP...), sampling rate converter, buffer.
• "Le Mode Test" deals with Test Mode, it regroups everything I have learned (from MiniDisc.org) about hacking, service mode, TOC cloning, retry cause display mode, parameters of test mode translated in French. It also contains MZ-R30 and MDS-JE520 test mode pages.
• "Mises � l'Epreuves" contains results of personal testing on MD. I have made specific test sounds on a software (GoldWave) famous to defeat audio compression algorithm. There are 7 test sounds that are encoded in MP2 and MP3 at 320, 128, 64 and 32 kbits/sec, and ATRAC Type R DSP v.1.0. Once encoded, I have analysed it temporally and frequentially. That's why there are so many screen captures on "Mises � l'Epreuve". You can "download" the encoded files in *.wav. The meaning of files's name :

  atracR = ATRAC Type R
  mp3320k = mp3 at 320 kbits/sec
  mp2320k = mp2 at 320 kbits/sec
  mp232k = mp2 at 32 kbits/sec
  mp332k = mp3 at 32 kbits/sec, etc

  symbol "+" means "encoded with"

  FOR EXAMPLE :

  "st+mp232k.wav" means that it is the result of "Sontest5.wav" encoded in mp2 at 32 kbits/sec

  "st+mp3320k.wav" means that it is the result of "Sontest5.wav" encoded in mp3 at 320 kbits/sec

  "Tr15+atracR.wav" means that it is the result of "Train15ms.wav" encoded in ATRAC Type R

The size of my setupmd.exe is about 8MB because it contains already 4MB of these encoded wav files but they are necessary to understand the different comments about results.
