The SV-3MD comes in 3 colors, silver (S), gold (N), and blue (L). RXD-SV3MD is stamped on the main body. The blue variant was a limited special edition.

It is the successor to the SL-3MD and equipped with D-BASS II and Preset Room EQ that allows you to select the optimum sound effect based on the configuration of the room.

It can also connect to the Kenwood HD20GA7 Kenwood HD20GA7 (MiniDisc Wiki mirror), a 20GB MP3 player connected using the PNC-150 link cable. By connecting to the dedicated input terminal equipped on the front of the main unit, you can control the play/pause, FF/Reverse, and folder skip operations with the HD20GA7.
