  • First to include Dolby Headphones Dolby Headphones (MiniDisc Wiki mirror) sound field processing system with 3 settings: "Studio" (small room), "Live" (studio size room with additional echo) and "Dome" (large hall). Headphone part# HP-MD70
  • 2 line LCD on remote. "LED Navigation" system uses various colors and blink codes to represent SP, LP2, LP4, and mono playback modes.

Atrac LSI has a 0.18μm process, uses a 22-bit arithmetic method and has 16M bit (4MB) memory. Sharp refers to it as it's "5th generation LSI" but sharp's 5th gen ATRAC encoder was released in 1997.
