The video portion of the Japanese CMT-SE7 can support NTSC video at a minimum resolution of 240p but can support up to 480p through its D-Terminal type-2 video output. D-Terminal type 2 contains component video signals (YPbPr) and passive adapters can be had in Japan. All CMT-SE7 units are DVD region 2 and cannot play anything but region 2 or all-region disks. The DVD section also supports DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW disks however DVD-R disks seem to playback better than any other option.
There doesnt seem to be a region free hack for the Japanese (CMT-SE7 J) version of this unit and you are stuck playing either region 2 or all region disks. The European model (CMT-SE7 I/K) may support a region free hack similar to that of the European model CMT-SE9 and CMT-SE5 however this has not been confirmed.
