Full suite of on device controls, and came bundled with an IR remote, the RM-D24M.
Note that this is NOT a netMD device. It can connect to a PC using a PC-Link kit (seemingly the PCLK-MD1), and using the MD Editor Software supports full-width title labeling. MD Editor supports coordinating recordings from a Sony CDP CD player to the MD unit, including building and coordinating recording of tracks from multiple discs in a 5-200-disc changer, but doesn't directly include affordances for recording from the computer. However, the deck has two digital inputs and will work fine recording audio off a computer.
Sony's service manual compares the MDS-PC1 to the MDS-S38, although the PC1 has additional hardware and connectivity for computer and CD player connectivity via Control-A1II.
This isn't officially listed in the manual, but the PC1 will receive CD-TEXT from newer Sony CDP- players that can read and transmit it.
An updated version, the MDS-PC2 was also released using a newer generation of minidisc and ATRAC hardware, with similar overall functionality.
