Offered in Silver and Gold. Top of the line Hi-MD recorder. One of the first devices to be released, was launched alongside the MZ-NH3D, MZ-EH1, and LAM-X1.
Uses the LIP-4WM battery which is no longer available (Note added 24 Feb 2026: LIP-4WM replacement batteries are now available on Amazon and on eBay (at least in the UK)). Most OEM version have long since lost most of their capacity or even their ability to recharge, meaning the battery must be rebuilt in order to get the best battery life.
Note that this device uses a unique USB cable made only for this device. They are rare and quite expensive, keep that in mind when searching for one to buy. (Note added 6 March 2026: a USB-C to Sony MZ-NH1, N10, NH3D, DH10P adapter is now available from Ali Express, search for "Sony MZ-NH1 Data Cable". This adapter has a slide switch: left is for charging only (red LED), right is for data connection (green LED)).
Works with web/platinum MD when writing normal MD discs, SonicStage must be used for Hi-MD discs.
